Vivian A. Fonseca, MD, is professor of medicine, director of the Diabetes Program, and Tullis-Tulane Alumni Chair in Diabetes at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. A fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American College of Physicians, Dr Fonseca is a member of The Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association, International Diabetes Federation, and American Heart Association. He is an ad hoc reviewer for Diabetic Medicine, Kidney International, British Medical Journal, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Diabetes Care, and Metabolism, among others. Dr Fonseca's current research interests include the prevention and treatment of diabetic complications and cardiovascular disease. He has lectured in the United States and abroad, and his publications include more than 100 articles and abstracts.
