Silvio E. Inzucchi, MD

Dr. Inzucchi received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, NY and his M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.  He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and his post-doctoral Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Yale-New Haven Hospital, in New Haven, CT.  He is currently Associate Professor of Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, where he serves as Clinical Director of the Section of Endocrinology, and Attending Physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he is the Director of the Yale Diabetes Center.  Dr. Inzucchi has been an invited lecturer both nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including diabetes, lipid disorders and pituitary disease. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 manuscripts, textbook chapters, and abstracts, with some of these published in the foremost medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association.  His practical booklet on diabetes management, "The Yale Diabetes Center Diabetes Facts & Guidelines" has an annual circulation in excess of 100,000 copies.  Dr. Inzucchi's current research interests include the connection between type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular complications; the evaluation of the asymptomatic diabetic patient for coronary artery disease; and the inpatient management of hyperglycemia.
